Caring Overseas

In the 1980s the great African famines led to the establishment of Irish Baptist Aid.  Over the years it has sought to channel money through agencies working with local churches in areas affected by natural disasters or human negligence.

Over the years help has been sent to such diverse places as:

Haiti, El Salvador, Peru, Tsunami victims in the Indian Ocean, Japan, Congo,

Rwanda, Gambia, Liberia, Romania, Bosnia, Croatia and India.

Since 2002 a long term project of support has also been added as a result of the HIV/Aids pandemic in Africa.  The Baptist Union of Zimbabwe sought help for its Orphan Care Programme and over the last ten years that has been the central focus of Association support.
